Where are the tropical places in the world? The tropics are located at the center area of the equator. Since they are located there, the tropics are more exposed to the sun, therefore these locations are much more warmer than the surrounding areas away from the equator. In the tropical areas, there are different types of seasons: the dry season, cool season, hot season and wet season.
There are two tropics. The Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. At the Tropic of Cancer, there are five major latitudes marked on the Earth. This area is known as the Northern Tropics. The name of this tropic was named after the constellation of Cancer. The location of the Tropic of Cancer is not fixed at one position and varies according to the sun. At the Tropic of Capricorn, there are also five major latitudes but they are marked in a Southern part of the Tropics. This too was named after a constellation, which is Capricorn. The location of the Tropic of Capricorn is also not fixed much like the Tropics of Cancer.
Tropical ecosystems tend to include rainforests since they are located near the equator. These rainforests are rich with various species and plants because of the warm weather in the tropics, they can easily develop and reproduce throughout all of the seasons, unlike temporal areas such as the Americas. Typical rainforest properties include lots of rainfall and warm humid weather. There world’s largest tropical rainforests are located in the Amazon Rainforest, Nicaragua, southern Yucatan Peninsula-El Peten Belize and some areas of Central America. Africa and parts of southern East Asia consists of large tropical rainforests as well. Even though it may seem like there are a lot of rainforest that covers the Earth, each year they are rapidly being destroyed by humans.
